U.S. sanctions Russian nationals, Ilya Boykov and Vitold Obertas, for crypto laundering for North Korea
U.S. authorities have imposed sanctions on Russian nationals.
This action follows allegations that the individuals laundered millions using cryptocurrency for North Korean IT workers.
Specifically, Ilya Boykov, a Russian national, allegedly converted approximately $3.5 million in crypto.
Vitold Obertas, another Russian national, is alleged to have converted close to $2 million in cryptocurrency for the same entity.
These regulatory measures highlight the ongoing scrutiny applied by U.S. bodies regarding illicit financial flows involving digital assets.
The targeting of these parties underscores the enforcement efforts against the use of crypto for state-sponsored or sanctioned activities.
