NYSE taps Wall Street giant Broadridge to bring shareholder voting to tokenized stocks
A key provider of shareholder voting and corporate services on Wall Street, Broadridge will help bring investor rights onchain for the exchange's upcoming venue.
It has now hired the company that already handles the paperwork for shareholder voting. Broadridge Financial Solutions (BR) will provide onchain governance and digital transfer agency services for the NYSE's planned tokenized securities platform. The company unveiled the arrangement on Monday, November 2, 2026.
It is a quiet but meaningful addition to a project that still needs regulators to sign off. Under the new arrangement, Broadridge will help public companies manage shareholder records, communications and voting as their shares move onto blockchain rails. Its contribution includes smart contracts that enforce governance rules, proxy voting systems, and tools for authenticating digital wallets.
Smart contracts are self-executing code on a blockchain. Here, they would bake a company's voting rules directly into the software, so the rulebook and the ballot box live in the same place. Broadridge will also keep doing its traditional transfer agency work.
That service will cover both tokenized shares and conventional equities, which matters because no company is flipping its entire shareholder base onchain overnight. CEO Tim Gokey framed the company's role in ambitious terms. "Building the governance layer for tokenized equities."
