The world's largest cryptocurrency exchange is scheduled to remove several trading pairs that no longer satisfy the required criteria, alongside temporarily halting certain services on the Ethereum network this week.
On October 30, the exchange plans to cease offering ten margin trading pairs and twelve spot trading pairs. The institution will carry out wallet maintenance concerning the ETH network on October 28, during which time transactions involving deposits and withdrawals on that blockchain will be temporarily unavailable. This maintenance procedure is anticipated to last approximately one hour, after which operations are set to resume. The company affirmed that trading of tokens on the network will remain unaffected, and it pledged to manage all technical requirements pertaining to users. The announcement stated that "Deposits and withdrawals for token(s) on the aforementioned network will be reopened once the upgraded network is deemed to be stable," and no further notices will follow. The exchange has executed numerous similar wallet maintenance events throughout this year without receiving reports of problems or complaints from users. Previously, transfers on the Ethereum network were paused temporarily in August, and even earlier, TRX deposits and withdrawals were briefly suspended.
In addition to the Ethereum network update, Binance disclosed that it will be removing the following spot trading pairs on October 30: AAVE/BTC, ATOM/BTC, CAKE/BTC, DASH/BTC, ETC/BTC, ICP/BTC, PENDLE/BTC, RENDER/BTC, TAO/BTC, THETA/BTC, XAUT/BTC, and XTZ/BTC. This action stems from a thorough review of all listed pairs on the platform, as the exchange routinely verifies if they meet specific benchmarks, such as sufficient liquidity and trading volume. The entity clarified that "The delisting of a spot trading pair does not affect the availability of the tokens on Binance Spot," allowing users to still trade the base and quote assets of the removed pair using other available trading pairs on Binance. Furthermore, on the same date, Binance will discontinue ten margin trading pairs, which include RE/USD1, 币安人生/U, KAT/U, BTC/USDS, ETH/USDS, AVNT/U, FET/U, TRUMP/U, APT/U, and WLFI/U.
These publicized delistings have not prompted significant price fluctuations among the associated cryptocurrencies. This lack of substantial market reaction is unsurprising, given that more pronounced market responses usually occur when Binance terminates all services for a particular digital asset, such as happened earlier this month when the removal of Epic Chain (EPIC) and QuickSwap (QUICK) caused severe declines in both.
These operational adjustments by the exchange reflect ongoing efforts by market participants to ensure that listed assets adhere to established standards regarding market depth and trading activity, which is a recurring theme in regulated exchange oversight.
